mildew and dirt because I feel the urgency

to be new and shiny, untouched in their glamour

I am drawn to walls that peak from behind the veil
of architectural and engineered perfection
to suggest a history of people, events, and weather

time layered in one moment;
a narrative emerges from these mundane surfaces
