I’ve recently become seduced down the back alleys in Singapore,
wandering through

historic and traditional neighborhoods far from
(or sometimes just next door to)

pristine, uniform high-rise residential blocks.
But beneath the towering city reaching hungrily toward open blue skies, I find myself

drawn to the texture in back alleys…
the vegetal growth, the blooming algae, the bubbling molds, fingers of fungus

…and some pigeons, cats, and humans here and there too.
